Psychology Major

The major in psychology is designed to give the student not only a general knowledge of behavior and mental processes, but also an understanding of how this knowledge is scientifically acquired and applied. The scientific method is emphasized throughout the psychology curriculum (laboratory and laboratory-like experiences are integral components in a number of courses). Supporting coursework in the natural sciences and mathematics is required.

Psychology graduates find employment in business, social service agencies and the public sector. Some psychology graduates pursue graduate education in psychological science, the health-related fields, and business and industry. Luther psychology graduates have been quite competitive in the highly selective graduate school market.

Psychology Minor

The minor in psychology is ideal for the student who wishes to complement a primary interest in another area of study with an introduction to the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes.
