Facilities

The Department of Psychology is located in the campus science facility, Valders Hall of Science.

BRAIN (Behavioral Research and Interactive Network) Lab

A 28-station networked computer laboratory for general psychology and the study of perception. The laboratory is equipped with a Thought Technology biograph and statistical software.

Perception and Cognition Laboratory

A facility dedicated to the study of human perception, human cognition, and psycholinguistics. Special equipment: computer with signal generation and signal analysis software, sonograph, and reaction time apparatus.

Psychological Test Library

A controlled-access facility housing a variety of proprietary and research tests. Although used primarily as an instructional facility for those students enrolled in Psychology 466, the library can be used by any faculty or student requiring a psychological test.

Operant Learning Laboratory

Ten soundproof operant laboratories each equipped with a Lafayette Model 80003 operant chamber. ABET software allows for control and monitoring of the ten environments from a central instructor's console.

Developmental Laboratory

A laboratory dedicated to the study of human development. The laboratory is currently configured to support research on psychosocial development and evolved standards of attractiveness.

Animal Cognition Laboratory

This laboratory is configured for the study of avian memory and behavior.

Data Analysis Laboratory

A facility dedicated to advanced data analysis. Professional statistical software (SYSTAT, SPSS) and a variety of printed resources are available to support both student and faculty data analysis.

Salsbury Animal Facility

Laboratory animals are housed in this facility adjacent to the psychology laboratories. The department currently maintains facilities for rats and wild species of birds. This facility is shared with the Department of Biology.
